“The task is so great and the strength we can contribute so small, we have no time to quarrel with one another along the way, longing only that the millions of China would come under the influence of Christ.”
Walter Medhurst · China: Its State and Prospects
Scripture
Matthew 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Reflection
Walter Medhurst once wrote that the task is so great and the strength we can contribute so small, we have no time to quarrel with one another along the way, longing only for the millions of China to come under the influence of Christ. The Lord similarly said that the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few. Having few people is no excuse to stop, and quarreling certainly is not. If today I often feel that we lack hands or disagree in our opinions, I might first ask myself: Can I argue a little less, take one more step forward, handle the task right before me well, and bring the person right in front of me to the Lord?
