Daily Devotion
“People all seek personal freedom and national prosperity, but if the human heart is enslaved by sin and blinded by selfish desires, then even in a peaceful world, it is as if one is shackled. Only truth can set people free, and only the light of Christ can dispel the darkness in the human heart.”
Ernst Faber · The Study of Classics: Volume Three - On Redemption and Freedom
Scripture
John 8:31-32 Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Reflection
We often strive for favorable circumstances, prosperous times, and external freedom, easily overlooking the hidden shackles deep within our hearts. If the heart is imprisoned by selfish desires and sin, even in times of peace and prosperity, the soul remains trapped. Worldly civilization and wealth cannot heal the emptiness of the heart; only the truth of Christ can pierce the darkness. When we root our lives in the Lord's way, no longer enslaved by worldly anxieties and sins, we can experience true freedom and peace that remains unshaken by circumstance.
