“These Chinese sailors arriving at the London docks were strangers in a foreign land, often ignored and scorned. However, in the eyes of faith, they were a divinely ordained bridge connecting Great Britain and the Far East. If we win them over to Christ here, we will send back not just sailors, but living letters, torches of the gospel to their homeland.”
Rev. George Piercy · The Chinese in London: Facts and Appeals
Scripture
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 You yourselves are our own letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, and known to all who read it. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ, the fruit of our work, not written with pen and ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but engraved on the tablets of the heart.
Reflection
People often judge others by class and nationality, regarding marginalized groups as worthless. Yet, in God's eyes, even a seaman stranded in a foreign land can be transformed into a "messenger of heaven," delivering the grace of salvation. I should not let prejudice remain confined to cold stone tablets, but rather ask the Holy Spirit to expand the boundaries of my heart, using the eyes of faith to discover every overlooked soul around me. For the world may not read the Bible, but it reads the words of my life. Am I already a living letter from Christ, allowing others to read the love of Christ?
