Daily Devotion

“I belong to no denomination; I belong to Christ. Here, there are no British or Chinese, only souls in need of the Gospel. The language barrier is immense, but the love of Christ can penetrate any tongue.”

George Hunter · George Hunter of Chinese Turkestan

Scripture

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither free nor slave, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Reflection

Hu Jinjie has spent forty years walking the desolate borderlands of Xinjiang. What sustains him is not sectarian fanaticism, but the pure desire to "be one in Christ." We often build high walls around differences in identity, region, or perception, habitually drawing lines between "us" and "them." However, in God's eyes, only souls thirsting for the Gospel matter. Reflecting on the present, have I, in my work and academic research, also neglected Christ's love that transcends all barriers because of clinging to certain identities or prejudices? True faith should humble us, allowing us to set aside labels like "British or Chinese," to see everyone through Christ's eyes, and to let love become a universal language that transcends all languages and cultures.
