Daily Devotion
“Do not view prayer as a heavy burden, but as a privilege to draw upon the resources of the Kingdom of Heaven. You are speaking to an extremely wealthy Father; do not go with an empty bowl, but with a vessel of gratitude.”
James Outram Fraser · The Practice of Prayer
Scripture
Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Reflection
Prayer is often mistakenly seen as a chore or a desperate plea, but John Flint reminds us that it is actually a privilege we children have to enter the treasure trove of Heaven. God is not a stingy giver, but an extremely rich Father. When we come before the throne of grace with a "vessel of gratitude" rather than an "empty bowl," our mindset shifts from humble receiving to glorious receiving. This "fearless confidence" stems from our conviction in Fatherly love. Today, try to let go of the worries that weigh heavily on your heart, and use gratitude as a vessel to receive the abundant grace and help that has already been prepared for you.
