Daily Devotion
“Throughout the long span of sixty years, I often felt like a traveler carrying a lamp in the dark. I knew that Western science and law alone could not fundamentally change this great nation; only when the compassionate and truthful love of Christ touched the hearts of the Chinese people would this ancient empire truly complete its remarkable spiritual transformation that would attract worldwide attention.”
W.A.P. Martin · Memories of My Sixty Years
Scripture
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, and grace and truth through Jesus Christ.
Reflection
W.A.P. Ding's insights resonate with biblical truth: while law and science can regulate society and enlighten the public, they cannot reach the depths of the soul. The law is like a mirror, reflecting human deficiencies and limitations; only the "grace and truth" brought by Christ can melt away the ice like spring rain, bestowing upon life the power of transformation. While pursuing external progress, we must also reflect: without the renewal of inner life, all achievements will ultimately be empty talk. Only when touched by that compassion and great love can the soul attain true freedom.
