“Earn as much as you can, save as much as you can, and finally, give as much as you can. We think we own these riches, but in reality, these riches own us if we don't give.”
John Wesley · Lectures on Money
Scripture
Luke 16:9 I also tell you to make friends through unrighteous money, so that when it is no longer useful, they may take you into the eternal dwelling.
Reflection
Wealth itself is not an end in itself, but rather a "tool" entrusted to us by God. "Earning" tests our diligence, "saving" tests our self-control, and "giving" tests our sense of sovereignty. The real crisis lies not in possessing wealth, but in being possessed by wealth. When we learn to see eternal value in earthly resources, transforming temporary "money" into eternal "friendship" and "life," we are elevated from trapped "owners" to free "stewards." In our interviews and ministry, may we always be vigilant, lest the tools in our hands replace the Lord who sits on the throne in our hearts.
