“As parents, our most important job is to bring our children to Jesus, and then step back and let the Lord reign in their lives. We are the stewards; He is the true master.”
Andrew Murray · Children in Christian Families
Scripture
Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Reflection
Watching our children perform on stage, we often develop a misplaced sense of ownership, mistakenly believing their talent is the result of our parents' efforts. However, scripture warns us that our children are an inheritance entrusted to us by God, and we are merely temporary stewards. As Müller said, the hardest lesson is not "teaching," but "stepping back." A child's outstanding performance is God's pruning and gift to His inheritance. As stewards, if we over-control, we will obscure the Lord's light. We need to reflect: in education, do we cling tightly to sovereignty, or do we learn to let go, allowing the Lord to reign supreme in our children's lives? Only when we step back can God obtain complete glory in their lives.
