Daily Devotion

“God's promises are like stars: you cannot see them when the world is bustling during the day; but when night falls and the environment becomes cold, they will light up one by one, guiding the sojourner to that unshakable kingdom.”

Joseph Allan · A Warning to Those Who Have Not Turned Back

Scripture

2 Peter 1:19 We also have more certain prophetic pronouncements, like a lamp shining in darkness. Pay attention to these prophecies until the day breaks and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Reflection

The hustle and bustle of life, like daylight, often obscures the glimmer of truth; only when the night deepens and physical weakness forces us to pause do God's promises, like stars in the cold night, clearly emerge from the depths of our souls. The old man's bright eyes may be fixed on a "more certain prophecy" unseen by most. It is not an illusion, but a harbinger of the morning star rising in his heart. Listening at this moment is not a waste of time, but a vigil for dawn in the darkness. As the senses of the flesh gradually fade, the words of the Bible become the sole compass, guiding this "stranger" through the mist towards that unshakable peace and glory.
