Daily Devotion
“Cheap grace is grace we give to ourselves; it is forgiveness without the requirement of repentance, baptism without church discipline, and communion without confession. It is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, and grace without the living, incarnate Christ.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer · The Cost of Discipleship
Scripture
Titus 2:11–12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.
Reflection
God's grace is freely given, but it is not a license for indulgence. His grace teaches us to escape sin and live holy lives. If grace does not bring about change, it is merely cheap comfort. True grace leads to repentance, renewal, and godliness. Having been saved by grace, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this world, allowing grace to bear the fruit of holiness in our lives.
