Romans 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought, but to think soberly, each one according to the measure of faith God has dealt him.

Reflection

God allows trials to come to remind me that my strength is not in my own strength, but entirely dependent on His grace. Suffering tears down my pride and self-reliance, teaching me to be humble in my weakness and acknowledge my own limitations. All my strength, faith, and hope come from Him. Without trials, I would easily believe I was spiritually strong, but that is a false sense of security. Through hardship, the Lord draws me back to His presence, teaching me to "see myself as moderate" and to rely solely on Him.
