“Goodness said to him, 'Bear your burden contentedly until you reach the place of deliverance; there your burden will fall from your back of its own accord.'”
John Bunyan · The Pilgrim's Progress
Scripture
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Reflection
On the journey of life, we often carry the weight of sin, the weakness of sickness, and the sorrow of our hearts. Like Christian in "The Pilgrim's Progress," he desperately wanted to unburden himself, but was reminded to keep going until he reached the cross. True liberation lies not in my struggle and effort, but in the salvation Christ bore for me. He bore my sins himself on the cross, freeing me from my burdens and allowing my soul to find rest. The Lord calls me to "come to Him," and even though I still carry burdens, I must approach Him with faith, knowing that rest awaits me.
