Daily Devotion
“He was blessed with two homelands: the one of his proud citizenship, and the other where he labored for forty years and deeply loved; because he loved China and felt that China deserved the finest Christian university, he worked toward this for thirty years.”
Joseph Beech · West China Missionary News
Scripture
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Reflection
Joseph Beech said that he was blessed with two homelands: the one of his proud citizenship, and China, where he labored for forty years and deeply loved. Because of his love for China, he believed it deserved the finest Christian university, and he dedicated thirty years of his life to this cause. Love is not merely empty words; it is offering one's entire life and the very best. Today, if I claim to love a place or a group of people, I might first ask myself: Have I offered them my best, or merely what is left over?
