Daily Devotion

“Waiting! Ah, none of you in all your lives have ever waited for anything as that old woman waited for the Bread of Life! Today, across the vast expanse of China, there are still tens of thousands of such villages, towns, and large cities where people are still "waiting"! How much longer must they wait? Is this your fault?”

Minnie Vandersall · China's Heartstrings

Scripture

Romans 10:14-15 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"

Reflection

A childless widow guarded a door she dared not close, waiting for nine years simply because someone had promised, "Someone will be sent." She heard and she believed, yet no one ever stayed to teach her. Paul asked, "And how are they to hear without someone preaching?" This question still confronts us today. Those who wait may not be in distant villages, but among our neighbors, colleagues, and family members. Have we too made promises of "someday," leaving them waiting indefinitely?
