Daily Devotion
“We are often asked, "If we join your church must we have some one to act as surety?" and the direct answer includes the great fundamental principles of salvation. That Christ would stand as bondsman for a stranger or for a sinner fills them with surprise.”
Hampden Coit DuBose · Preaching in Sinim; or, The Gospel to the Gentiles (1893), ch. "Preaching Christ"
Scripture
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Reflection
Scripture and famous sayings are like a mirror, reflecting the core of faith: love and grace. Often, we easily stand on moral high ground, casting judgmental and condemnatory glances upon souls struggling with weakness, addiction, or failure. However, Christ's purpose in coming to earth was not judgment, but to find the lost in ruins and mire. True faith never despises any broken life. We should reflect on our own hearts: are we willing to set aside our prejudices and become that hand of grace reaching out from the abyss, delivering redemption and dignity?
