“Whenever I read the beautiful parable of the prodigal son, I am inclined to say to Jesus, "O my Love and my All, You have understated the case!"”
John C.H. Wu · Beyond East and West (1951)
Scripture
Luke 15:18 “I will get up and go to my father and say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you;’”
Reflection
Whenever John C. H. Wu read the parable of the prodigal son, he was inclined to say to Jesus, "You have understated the case!" The Father's love far exceeds what even that parable can portray. In the busy spring season, we often lose our way amidst the complexities of daily life, technological advancements, and the planning of livelihoods. However, true wisdom is not about accumulating more knowledge, but rather, like a child returning to its father's embrace, rediscovering that inner simplicity and steadfastness. Reflecting on the present: Am I striving for a living, or am I steadily progressing on the path of truth? May we penetrate the clamor of the world and, in our ordinary labor, recognize that peace that transcends all things and returns to our origins.
