Daily Devotion
“God will not give us good habits, He will not give us character, He will not make us walk aright. We have to do all that ourselves, we have to work out the salvation God has worked in. … We have to get into the habit of hearkening to God about everything, to form the habit of finding out what God says. If when a crisis comes, we instinctively turn to God, we know that the habit has been formed.”
Oswald Chambers · My Utmost for His Highest, May 10, "Take the Initiative"
Scripture
1 Peter 2:2 “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.”
Reflection
1 Peter reminds believers that spiritual growth, like that of an infant, requires constant nourishment from God's Word. A healthy spiritual life is not about occasional sermons or fleeting zeal, but about a sustained thirst for God's truth. If one does not frequently draw near to God, one's spiritual life easily stagnates or even regresses. But when one humbly comes before God, loves the Bible, and is willing to learn and obey God's Word, one's life is unconsciously renewed, gradually growing and maturing, becoming more and more like Christ.
