Daily Devotion
“I tell these earnest kids that the will of God is always different from what they expect, always bigger, and, ultimately, infinitely more glorious than their wildest imaginings.”
Elisabeth Elliot · "The Supremacy of Christ," The Elisabeth Elliot Newsletter, March/April 1993 (elisabethelliot.org)
Scripture
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Reflection
When things don't go as I expect, I easily become anxious and even doubt whether I'm on the right track. But God's ways are higher than mine; He sees the bigger picture that I cannot. Perhaps I feel it's harder because He is expanding my capacity; perhaps I feel limited because He is rebuilding my foundation. True faith is not about favorable circumstances, but about remaining obedient in the face of the unknown. Today, I am willing to relinquish my desire for control and acknowledge that God's plan is far more profound than my judgment.
