Daily Devotion
“The main problem every marriage faces is the self-centeredness in both spouse’s hearts. … The solution, however, is the gospel of Christ, for it both humbles us and exalts us at the same time.”
Timothy Keller & Kathy Keller · The Meaning of Marriage: A Couple's Devotional (2019), Introduction
Scripture
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you in Christ.
Reflection
Marriage is never the union of two perfect individuals, but rather two sinners who have received grace, learning to accept and forgive one another in God's love. Without grace, differences and hurt become battlegrounds; but in Christ's forgiveness, we can let go of our ego and respond to each other with compassion, patience, and kindness. Marriage is not about escaping breakage, but about experiencing repair within breakage; it is not about seeking perfection, but about growing together into the likeness of Christ.
