“There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still.”
Corrie ten Boom · The Hiding Place
Scripture
Psalm 40:2 He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
Reflection
Ten Boom recorded her sister's words in The Hiding Place. When Betsie spoke those words, she was not standing safely at the edge of the pit offering comfort; she was lying on a stretcher in the concentration camp, right at the bottom of the pit. That is why her words carry such weight. My brother is now imprisoned; I cannot help him or visit him. But where he is, God is already there, and even deeper still. What I cannot reach, God can reach.
